Sarah Macdonald Diary 2

Dear Diary,

It’s been two days since my last entry, and things have gone from bad to worse. I don’t even know where to begin.

Russ Jorden… he’s dead. That thing on his face finally came off, but then… God, I can barely write this. Something burst out of his chest. Right in the middle of the med bay, with half the colony watching. There was so much blood, so much screaming. I’ve never seen anything like it.

We’re in lockdown now. Al Simpson, our security chief, is trying to keep everyone calm, but it’s not working. People are panicking. Some families have barricaded themselves in their quarters. Can’t say I blame them.

The creature that came out of Russ – it’s growing. Fast. We’ve had three more disappearances since yesterday. Jones from hydroponics, Lisa Cheng from communications, and little Rebecca Jorden – Newt, as everyone calls her. Poor kid just lost her dad, and now…

The company finally responded to our distress call. They’re sending a team of Colonial Marines. But they’re still days away. I don’t know if we’ll last that long.

We can hear it moving through the air ducts at night. That sound… it’s like nothing I’ve ever heard before. A sort of hissing, mixed with a metallic scraping. It’s hunting us, I’m sure of it.

Al tried to organize a search party to find the missing people and kill whatever this thing is. Only a handful volunteered. They left this morning. We haven’t heard from them since.

I’m scared, diary. More scared than I’ve ever been in my life. This place, which has been our home for years, suddenly feels alien and hostile. Every shadow could be hiding one of those… things.

If we make it through this, I swear I’m never leaving Earth again. Please, let the Marines get here soon. Please let us survive until then.
